The Centrum Academy is crucial to the structure of CENTRUM FILM SUMMIT

as it is focused on ensuring that the standards and ethics that governs film selections and screens are not meddled with. Beyond being a regulatory body of CFS. The Academy will ensure that the right personnel are engaged in other human capacity activities of CFS.

Centrum Academy Screening Criteria

CENTRUM FILM SUMMIT (CFS) is dedicated to showcasing films and filmmakers that are committed to innovative projects that have clear solutions to the daily emotional, psychological and physical issues of humans. We support projects with new narratives capable of charting courses and influencing perspectives.

Films that are entered into CENTRUM FILM SUMMIT will be judged on ORIGINALITY, CREATIVITY, PLOT, PACING, STRUCTURE, CHARACTERS, CINEMATOGRAPHY AND ENTERTAINMENT VALUEas well as on EFFECTIVENESS OF THE MESSAGE and the ABILITY OF THE FILM TO REACH AN AUDIENCE.

 When creating a film that carries a message, it is important that you have the ability or knowledge of how to get your message to your audience and that your film is of such a nature that audiences would WANT so see it.  In order to demonstrate the latter, a percentage of the points will be based on public voting.  This will give film makers the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to gather public support and awareness.

12 Entry Benchmarks

  • ORIGINALITY

The uniqueness and originality of the premise or story.

  • CREATIVITY

The effective use of imagination as evidenced in the entry.

  • PLOT

The actions, events, conflicts, and turning points that propel the story forward. How the story unfolds.

  • PACING & STRUCTURE

The timing of the action, unfolding of plot elements and character development. The framework of the film or script. Effective use of three-act, odyssey, linear or non-linear story progression.

  • CHARACTERS

Personalities that are distinctive, compelling, multi-layered, and unpredictable. A protagonist and antagonist with clear and active goals.

  • CINEMATOGRAPHY

The quality of cinematography or videography demonstrated in the work.

  • SOUND QUALITY

Is the dialogue clear and not hindered by any noise or music score.

  • MUSIC SCORE

Is the music score suited to the film and does it help tell the story s a character of it’sown.

  • ENTERTAINMENT VALUE

Does the story keep the viewer’s or reader’s attention?  It is fun, engaging, or thought provoking?

  • DIALOGUE

Voices that are natural, succinct, and unique to each character. Use of language that effectively reveals character and moves the story forward. OR, is the lack of dialogue used effective.

  • MESSAGE EFFECTIVENESS

Does the film clearly depict the message of the charity or cause it represents?  Is the charity/cause clearly identified and is the message it sends effective.

  • CALL TO ACTION

Does the film create a desire in the viewer to make a change, spread the message further or taking a call to action.

To drive public participation, after selection, winner will be determined by vote that will be free.

CENTRUM FILM SUMMIT requires that entries be submitted in digital file format only.

CENTRUM FILM SUMMIT has a maximum and minimum running time for submissions. Make sure that your film meets these requirements.

Centrum Film Summit requires that for entries to have PREMIERE STATUS, meaning that they have not been screened publicly before.

Centrum Film Summit requires that all films entered must be in their correct genre.

Centrum Film Summit accepts films in English languages, but requires that non-English language films be subtitled.

Be sure to submit your film before the festival's submission deadline. Many festivals have early-bird deadlines that offer discounted submission fees.

You will need to have all necessary rights and clearances for your film, including music rights, talent releases, and location releases.

You will need to provide a synopsis of your film and promotional materials, such as stills and a trailer, to be used in festival publicity.

They are seasoned film experts, practitioners and talents who will be attending CFS Corely to share their experience, exposes the challenges of the industry whilst churning out possible solutions, discussing opportunities and most of all, nurturing future generation of film makers and film entrepreneurs.
